Upcoming movies with Black actors. Whether they are “Black” movies or “mainstream” movies, here are the projects that Black actors, directors and producers are creating.

The story follows Otis Tilson’s struggle to keep his family together as they navigate through a world of alcoholism, pimping, sexual deviation and racial degradation.

Miss Nobody

A mild-mannered secretary discovers that she has a talent for murder as she ascends the corporate ladder.

My Own Love Song
Starring: Forest Whitaker

A wheelchair-bound singer and her best friend embark on a roadtrip to Memphis.

It is on one of this cocoa plantations that Officer Francis Tompson, a plantation owner and Julia, a retired nursing officer put aside their differences to help rescue 200 child slaves trapped on the plantation in the time of a tribal conflict. Rendezvous with Rama

The story is set in the 22nd century. A thirty-mile-long cylindrical starship is detected traveling on a course to pass through our solar system. Because all extant names for Roman and Greek gods have been used on other newly-discovered celestial objects at this point, the Hindu god Rama is invoked in naming the object, which is originally mistaken to be a comet.

Repossession Mambo

Set in the near future when artificial organs can be bought on credit, it revolves around a man who struggles to make the payments on a heart he has purchased. He must therefore go on the run before said ticker is repossessed.

Another black feature film in development is the Untitled Toussaint Film by Director Derick Alexander that is based upon his 2009, award-winning short film “The Last Days of Toussaint L’Ouverture.” You can see a clip of Toussaint’s last moments in prison from the short at The feature film is not connected with previous attempts by Danny Glover to make a film re: Toussaint.
