The second Portland African-American Film Festival opens new doors
By Shawn Levy, The Oregonian
Running Thursday through Sunday at various McMenamins’ theaters, the Portland African-American Film Festival, now in its second year, is a channel for a variety of new and little-seen films as well as a springboard, it is hoped, for new filmmaking talent.
The festival launches at the Mission Theater with a screening of the 1943 musical “Stormy Weather,” then continues with a variety of narrative and documentary features and shorts throughout the weekend at the Bagdad Theater, with a youth film festival entitled “Show Us What You Got” taking place at the St. John’s Theater and Pub.
Parties, discussions and general film-festy mingling goodness are also planned.
