Dallas, TX ( – Black Education News was founded by journalist/writing teacher Christie Jones to provide writing preparation for college bound African-American students. Many African-American students are not prepared for the rigorous critical analysis that is required for successful college writing.

Christie Jones, M.Ed., M.J. developed the Global Literacy Model as response to the Eurocentric approach to literacy instruction for African-American students, which lacks recognition of the African-American experience and the African-American ethos. The Global Literacy Model places African-American students at the center of learning.

Learning is social and cultural, so as students collaborate and learn about themselves and others, they will become socially conscious. This social consciousness provokes students to take action, which leads them to create change. Successful college students are leaders that change the world because they have excellent writing skills.

Black Education News is dedicated to inspiring a new generation of African-American teachers, journalists, and academic scholars.
