Urban League to launch job-training plan
The Chicago Urban League is set to announce new initiatives, including the launch of an online jobs directory, programs to help experienced African-American professionals manage their careers and an effort targeting black males that’s designed to give them tools for economic and social success.
The programs come on the heels of a report released by the League that found the largest source of untapped economic potential in the Chicago area are the 1.1 million African Americans who make up 37 percent of the city’s population. The study said education, business ownership and work force development are critical to unleashing that full potential.
