Black Actors Receive Nominations for SAG Awards

“American Gangster” received a nomination for Best Ensemble Cast in a Motion Picture. Ruby Dee received a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her portrayal as Mama Lucas in “American Gangster”. That makes two nominations (the other as part of the cast of American Gangster, which received the nomination for best ensemble cast). Vanessa Williams received a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series. (She has a second nomination as part of the cast of “Ugly Betty” which is up for Best Ensemble Cast for a Comedy. Queen Latifah received a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries for her portrayal of Anna in HBO’s “Life Support”. The actress is also nominated in the category of Best Ensemble cast with her castmates for “Hairspray”.
