Derek Jeter’s Turn 2 Holiday Express 2007

The event was planned by Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation, a charitable organization that promotes leadership and academic excellence among young people and strives to motivate them to turn to healthy lifestyles. Eight busloads of elementary-school-age children involved in foundation programs came to the event.

Each child received a Yankees-monogrammed backpack filled with toys and candy. It was the first holiday party given in Kalamazoo by Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation.

“I look forward to meeting each and every one of you,” said Jeter, whose visit was the climax of the two-hour children’s party, which included upscale games, a disc jockey, boxed dinners and a red-carpeted entryway complete with red-velvet ropes, bright lights and television cameras.
